Self Awareness

This book is more about work than  your personal life. However, it’s only 2 hrs long but so insightful. One thing it talks about is asking for feedback. There is nothing wrong with asking, sometimes we do things or say things we aren’t even aware of. Feedback from people can really open our eyes, to make our lives better. The example given is that “If you are in a position of power but find that you aren’t getting anywhere with staff or people in general you should probably look at working on yourself”. I personally agree, I think we live in a culture all about feelings and no growth. I can’t grow if you only tell me positive things about myself.  Some people have 0 self awareness and it’s actually very costly.  For example continuing to talk about negative things to people who change the topic but then you bring it back to that negative story.  Or people not wanting to be around you because you’re toxic but somehow blaming everyone else.

Would I buy this? Maybe I would. I did find it insightful as people think that feedback is bad. However, it is necessary to grow and really not growing is what leads to a toxic environment.
